August 1: American-born South Korean singer & actress Stephanie Hwang of Girls' Generation - AKA Tiffany – is 24-years-old today.

Tiffany was born in San Francisco, California. When she was 15, she was invited to audition at the SM Entertainment Starlight Casting System and joined the company on October 2004 in Los Angeles. Despite initial objections from her father, she moved to South Korea and trained for Girls' Generation for over three years.

The nine member group consists of Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun. In Japan, they are known as Shoujo Jidai (Japanese; 少女時代). The group gained attention at the beginning of their career with songs such as "Into the New World" and "Kissing You" but it was not until 2009 when they gained significant popularity with their hit single "Gee," which would be named as South Korea's "Song of the Decade."

In addition to performing as a vocalist in the group, Tiffany is also a member of a Girls' Generation's sub-group, Girls' Generation-TTS along with Taeyeon and Seohyun. Their first mini-album "Twinkle (EP)" was released on 2 May 2012.

In 2008, Tiffany released two singles with fellow Girls' Generation members Jessica and Seohyun — the first called "Oppa Nappa," "Bad Boy") and the second titled "Mabinogi (It's Fantastic!)", a theme song for a video game.

Tiffany has also participated in the OST of SBS drama Jamyeonggo with the song By Myself 나 혼자서), and was featured in a duet with K.Will in A Girl, Meets Love (소녀, 사랑을 만나다). She was also featured in Oh! My Love to You (너만을 느끼며) by The Blue, alongside bandmate Sooyoung. She also sang the theme song for Caribbean Bay with her fellow members Taeyeon, Seohyun, Sunny, Jessica, Yuri and k-pop boy group 2PM.

In 2012, Tiffany participated in the album of Love Rain which bandmate Yoona is a lead actress. She and Kyuhyun of Super Junior sang for To The Beautiful You. In 2013, Tiffany participated in the title song for All About My Romance. The song is called "One Step Closer."

From November 25, 2011 to January 29, 2012, Hwang played Carmen Diaz in the musical Fame.
