July 28: Icelandic singer & actress Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir - "Silvía Night," “Ske” – is 31-years-old today.

-----
Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir was born on July 28, 1982. She studied acting in École Philippe Gaulier theatre school, Paris. Ágústa Eva was a temporary member of the band Ske. Ske is an Icelandic band whose origins can be traced back to 1992, when a band called Skárren ekkert was founded by Eiríkur Þorleifsson, Frank Hall and Guðmundur Steingrímsson.

In 2005 Ske played Austin, Texas' SXSW and Denmark's SPOT-festival, as well as opening for former Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant in Reykjavík. Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir replaced Ragnheiður Gröndal for those dates as well as for a TV appearance on the Icelandic National Television RÚV program Hljómsveit kvöldsins. Afterwards, Ágústa Eva began her solo career.

Ágústa Eva is best known for her portrayal of the controversial character Silvía Night. While a young and unknown actress, Ágústa Eva and Gaukur Úlfarsson, decided to invent a character to adopt as a narcisstic alter ego. Silvia Night has been described as a spoiled, aggressive and arrogant starlet is on a quest for world fame. One critic described it as “A true crash and burn fairytale.”

The character’s full Icelandic name is Silvía Nótt Sæmundsdóttir. She sees herself as the most famous and talented person on Earth.  Silvía Night was Iceland's participant in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens.

Her antics, both onstage and offstage, created controversy and garnered international media attention. Her album Goldmine was released in April. It topped the Official Icelandic Albums chart on 23 April 2007. The album also produced two charting singles, "Thank You Baby" and "Goldmine."

While in Athens, Silvía behaved provocatively and rudely to technicians and journalists. During the press conference she ordered the journalists not to look her in the eyes. One of them did and she ordered her "bodyguard" to take her out.

Another controversy surrounds the English lyrics to her Eurovision song, “Congratulations.” In the first verse the lyrics say “The vote is in, they say I win,” however in the video and at rehearsals she sang “The vote is in, I'll fucking win.”

Silvía also staged photo-ops to indicate her “regret.” She pretended to slap her boyfriend, and then threatened to jump from a bridge.

Ágústa Eva received the Edda Award 2005 for best TV personality of the year and for the best TV show "Sjáumst með Silvíu Nótt" or "See ´ya with Silvia Night." Ágústa Eva was also voted the sexiest woman in Iceland as her character Silvia Night by the listeners of the national radio station RUV.

In 2006, Ágústa played Eva Lind in the film Jar City, based on the book with the same name by Arnaldur Indriðason; the following year as Audur in Country Wedding, and as Bjarnfreður in Bjarnfreðarson in 2009. Ágústa Eva also appeared in the music video titled The Best Party.
