July 25: Filipino recording artist and actress Sarah Geronimo - AKA Sarah G – is 25-years-old today.

Sarah Asher Tua Geronimo, popularly known as Sarah Geronimo or Sarah G. was born on July 25, 1988 in Santa Cruz, Manila, Philippines.

Geronimo’s first performance was in a mall show when she was two years old. By the age of four, she made her first appearance on national television and was a member of the children's television show Pen-Pen de Sarapen for two years.

She sang for Pope John Paul II during his visit to the Philippines in 1995, when she was six. Her father enrolled Geronimo at the Center for Pop Music Philippines when she was 8. There, she received her first formal music and voice lessons.

Geronimo performed in hotel lounges, on campuses, in shopping malls, and on a few TV shows. Around this time, she was part of the cast of the ABS-CBN children's show Ang TV. At the age of nine, she joined the cast of the TV show NEXT. She also played a cameo role in Star Cinema’s Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa.

Sarah rose to fame after winning the Star for a Night singing competition in 2003. Soon after, she released her debut album entitled Popstar: A Dream Come True with Viva Records. The album produced three number-one singles in the MYX Hitchart.

Following the success of her debut album, she had her first major-solo concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. At the age of 17, she is considered as the youngest performer to have filled the Big Dome, and also became the first Filipino artist to receive a platinum award for a DVD copy of her concert The Other Side in 2005.


In 2008, Geronimo starred in her first movie entitled, A Very Special Love with John Lloyd Cruz. The movie grossed of more than P170 million, making Geronimo the “Box-office Queen” for 2008. Due to their joint success, a sequel immediately followed the next year titled, You Changed My Life. This film did even better; earning more than P215 Million.

Apart from her music and film career, Geronimo also ventured into business by opening a boutique and salon, restaurant and entered properties and real estates.

In 2012, she won in Mnet Asian Music Awards as Best Asian Artist making her the first Filipino to win the award. The year after, Geronimo snagged three nominations at the prestigious World Music Awards.

In 2013, her movie entitled It Takes a Man and a Woman  became the highest grossing Filipino film of all time.
