June 4: Sasha Allen – “the Voice,” Season 4- is 31-years-old today.

Sasha Sierra Allen was born on June 4, 1982 in Harlem, New York. She graduated from LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts in New York. At the age of 14, she starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down the Wind. Also while in high school, she was featured in commercial and print work, including advertisements in TIME magazine and a commercial with Michael Jordan.

Sasha began her music career as a backing singer for many performers on world tours,TV and platinum albums, including Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Leona Lewis, and Usher. Allen was also the feature vocalist on Babyface's "Playlist" World Tour, singing classic hits with the headliner.

Sasha signed with Elektra Records when she was 17-years-old. Later, she switched to Arista Records, but did not garner much attention, and decided to add acting to hew repertoire.

In 2003, she was cast as “Dee” in the cult film Camp, produced by Danny DeVito. At around the same time, she was also featured on VH1's Born to Diva, a pre-American Idol talent reality TV show. Allen later portrayed Dionne in the revival of the Broadway show Hair at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and the Gielgud Theatre in London, England.

Sasha’s first single, "Let's Fly Away," was released on July 4, 2008, and the follow-up, a cover of Joan Osborne's "One Of Us," was released in September 2008.

In June 2013, Sasha “Fierce” Allen- as her coach on “The Voice” Shakira likes to call her- made it to the semifinals of “The Voice"on her birthday; June 4.
