August 16: Tony Award nominee Cristin Milioti for "Once" - and recently revealed as “The Mother” on “How I Met Your Mother” – is 28-years-old today.

Cristin Milioti was born August 16, 1985 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She took acting classes at New York University, giving a notable performance in A History of Tears. She obtained bit parts in national advertising campaign ads, notably one for the Ford Edge.

Cristin has also appeared in television programs such as 30 Rock and films such as Greetings from the Shore. She was part of the original Broadway cast of Once, an adaptation of the film of the same name, for which she got a Tony Award nomination in 2012 for Best Leading Actress. Her final performance as 'Girl' in Once was on March 24, 2013.

In 2013, she was cast in How I Met Your Mother as the eponymous "Mother" character (credited as "The Girl with the Yellow Umbrella"), appearing for the first time in the last episode of its eighth season, titled "Something New." She will appear regularly in season 9 of the show.

How I Met Your Mother is an American sitcom that premiered on CBS on September 19, 2005. The 2013–14 season will be the show's ninth and final season. The series follows the main character, Ted Mosby, and his group of friends in Manhattan.

As a framing device, Ted, in the year 2030, recounts to his son and daughter the events that led to his meeting their mother. The show was created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, who also serve as the show's executive producers and frequent writers. The series was loosely inspired by their friendship when they both lived in New York City. All but 12 episodes (out of over 180) have been directed by Pamela Fryman.

How I Met Your Mother has been a critical success, having received positive reviews throughout most of its run and gaining a cult following over the years. The show has been nominated for 24 Emmy Awards, winning seven.

Beyond How I Met Your Mother, in her latest role, Milioti will portray Jordan Belfort's first wife, Teresa Petrillo, in the upcoming film The Wolf of Wall Street. The film is expected to premiere in the U.S. on November 15, 2013.

While How I Met Your Mother will give Milioti maximum exposure - presently she is best known for her work in Broadway theatre. Besides her Tony nomination for Once, she is the 2010 star of That Face and received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress for her work in Stunning.
